I received a message from George Williams he tried adding me on multiple Facebook pages and said he had to make a new page because he was hacked. I called the federal government and they provided me with a number to report the scam. The number is 18004478477

fake lottery

there is a lady that goes by the name of Rose Jane and she is blowing up facebook telling people they have won $950,000.00 us dollars, sends 3 payment methods ranging from $300-$500 and in 24 hours a diplomatic jet will arrive at the nearest airport to deliver a check but needs token payment for winnings.  She is very persistant and keeps saying winnings are real but can't say where the jet is leaving from and if I tell anyone it would cause me to lose my winnings,  if they are mine I should be able to tell anyone I want, she says my email was picked randomly but at the same time is showing up on others facebook friend requesting them  REAL OR FAKE?

New SCAM!!

Well it might actually be an old one, but I believe that this is a scam too.

I received a request to be added to my Facebook from a person I thought it was my cousin, I didn't have her on my list of friends so I accepted her request. Couple of days later she messaged me saying she was happy and excited. I asked what she was excited about. She said she had just won the Facebook World Lottery for $200,000.00 and to go to this link and add this person.

I thought it was weird, so I asked her if she had received her winnings. She said she had just received her winnings and saw my name on the list.

I told her how could I be on the list, because I had no idea what she was talking about. She then said that all I had to do was pay a fee of $900.00 and that my money will arrive 24 hours later.

So I messaged this person Nathiel Jones and said Hi. He said he had been waiting for me to contact him. To be honest and open minded. Then he asked for:

Name

Address

Phone Number

Age

Gender

Which I stupidly gave :(

I couldn't afford to pay the $900.00 straight away, and now I am really thankful for this too. But I said to Nathiel Jones, that I would have it in 4 days. He said he would wait for me.

When I got home from work I spoke to my son about this. He said it was a SCAM. We looked at Nathiel Jones home page. It didn't have any info or anything on his page. That made me nervous.

I for some reason then doubts that I was even chatting to my cousin. So I messaged my cousin. After 5 minutes of idle little chat. I asked this person a question. This person replied with the wrong very wrong answer. I immediately flew off the handle and asked who the hell the person was and that they were obviously a hacker. That was it I never got another reply from the person..

Later on that morning, I contacted the Police, and informed them of a SCAM. They then said for me to put a post up in Facebook about this, and that they would ring Facebook to follow through with this. Being that we were in the middle of the SCAM and had a couple of days before the payment was to be made. I copied the conversations and sent them through to the police also.

I may have been lucky to not lose $900.00, but I may proned to spyware etc and the loss of my main facebook page :(

I was just sent a similar letter. The first one I did reply with my name, address, phone, occupation, age, and gender. When I got a reply asking for the way that I wanted my money transferred to me, I noticed the grammer and spelling was very poor, not written by an English person, and I started to ask and look in to it? Should I report this to the police? How can I turn these guys in before they do some damage to more unsuspecting people? Thanks
