I've received this scam two days in a row. The first time I did click on the attachment, but there was nothing intelligible there and my antivirus software scolded me and killed it. Note that the syntax is very poor (for example "procedure and conditions of parcels keeping" and "Thank you for attention"), suggesting foreign origin.

My notification was of a valid ATM card for $3,500,000.00, and that the US Treasury department had been notified and I should contact the sender to retrieve the ATM card. I am sure that when I send an e-mail to the "sender", something bad is going to happen to my computer. Should I notify postal inspectors?

Help! I did open the attachment, but did not print out the infamous label to take to my post office. Do I have a virus since I opened it? Can they charge me $15.34 per day as written? Thanks! Emily

I received this message yesterday. I did try to open up the document to print the label to take to my post office, but my computer recognized a virus in the attachment and would not let the document open up. The software I have deleted the attachment. The email said I would be charged $9.46 a day if I did not pick up the item within 30 days. My package is in Riverside, too large to deliver.

I received the same message as Bobbi S. My package is in Fayetteville, too large to deliver. The scam arrived in junk mail but there was no attachment - the advantage of a Mac?! Maybe that is why they want to charge me $21.57 instead of $13.49!! Fat chance since I live in Europe! What to do? I know - DELETE!

Yes!! I thought this was a scam. It sounds VERY shady & did say I would be charged $15 a day for "holding my parcel" until I picked it up. The misspellings were a huge red flag & also that I knew I had'nt ordered anything so I was instatly suspicious. Hopefully the USPS can get this cleared up &/or notify the public asap!!

May 10, 2012 I received an e-mail, allegedly from "US Postal Service" claiming courier service could not deliver a parcel, as it was too large. Location of parcel: Fayetteville. They advised printing the attached label and showing it to the USPS nearest. If not received by me, the company claims they would have the right to charge $13.49 daily. Signed by UPSPGlobal. Since it went right to my junk mail, red-flagged, I did not open the attachment, but will be taking a copy of the letter...to the local USPS, on this apparent scam.

Just received a Email today saying the same, Courier service couldn't make delivery of your parcel. They would have a job as I live in the UK and not ordered anything from the US / Canada. Apparently I will owe them 14.32 doller a day if I don't jump on the next plane to Arlington

P.S. When you are making copies of your files, be sure that you are putting the copied files onto external media like a USB key or external hard drive and then removing the external media safely. (Check the little icons in the lower right-hand corner of your screen and right-click on the icon that is described as "Safely Remove Hardware". Screens will pop up and click the appropriate buttons on those screens to stop your mass storage device). Don't save your copies onto your computer because they will all be wiped out of your computer.when you do a system recovery. A good backup utility is "Fbackup"; you can get it from CNET.

Better to be safe than sorry. New malware is being invented all the time. Safest way, although costly in time, is to do a complete system recovery and re-install all your software e.g. Microsoft Office, computer games etc. after recovering your system. It will reset your computer to factory fresh standards. I hope you made a recovery disk the first time you used the computer (unless your computer came with a pre-made recovery disk). Make copies of your files before you recover your system and check your files with your Norton antivirus after Norton has been re-installed. Do that before re-installing the rest of your software.

I have recently received an email advising me to print the attached label and take to the post office and after 30 days would be charged daily the amount of $16.47. I unfortunately did try to open the attachment which failed due to virus being detected can you advise if I am now at risk.

This was deivered to my spam folder but I check that as real messages to me go there at regular intervals . It looked possibly genuine as from a reasonable sounding name with message heading "Wrong Delivery Address". However reading the ,message it was obviously a scam when it said my package was in Milwaukee and they would charge $16 per day for keeping it if returned (I'm in the UK!). Of course I did not open the attachement. Note: One thing that surprised me was that the start of the bcc list was visible and they seem to have picked up a whole series of Jackie..... addresses.

I was expecting notification about a shipment when the note came through early yesterday morning. I downloaded the attachment but didn't save it anywhere, although it did open it. When there was nothing in it, I realized I had made a mistake and cleaned out the download folder and ran all the Norton Antivirus software option I had, but nothing was detected. Am I still in trouble and if so how do I remove the malware from Vista? My desk is shut down and am using a laptop right now.

I received one of these scam notices today. Fortunately, I did not know how to print the label that was attached to it. It said, "If the parcel received ...... our company will have the right to claim compensation from you ..... in the amt. of $7.83 for each day of keeping it." Thanks for the alerts about scams. I'm one of the "oldies" who might have been taken in if not for you.

I received one of these messages today. While trying to determine if the USPS ever sent out E-mail messages, I found this web site. It did not make sense that USPS would charge $13.00+ for each day package was held in return department. They also said the package was too large to deliver at my home. I smelled "scam" written all over the message. I knew better than to open the attachment.

I noticed that previous postings are from 2012 but I received this scam on 4/15/2013. Coincidentally, I am expecting 2 items via USPS. There was no link or anything to download. I emailed a Quinton Duffy, the person who the email is from, and got an auto-response of "not deliverable." Knew something wasn't right. Same MO--“If the parcel received …… our company will have the right to claim compensation from you ….. in the amt. of $8.26 for each day of keeping it.“
